Annemarie Loos

Annemarie Loos is a visual artist known for her stunning garden sculptures, in which the gentle power of women occupies a central place. Her sculptural works, made of resin or bronze, are primarily figurative and convey a unique combination of movement, emotion, and joy of life, with a subtle touch of melancholy. Almost always, the woman is at the heart of her work, where Annemarie exceptionally captures the beauty and strength of the feminine.
With a background in fashion and theater design from the renowned Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, and training in modeling and sculpture at the Municipal Academy of Turnhout, Annemarie has followed an impressive artistic path.
Her work has not only enriched private collections but has also left a lasting impact in the public space. Her sculpture ‘Vriendschap’ (Friendship) was gifted to the city of Turnhout in honor of the 150th anniversary of the cultural association ‘AMICITIA’. The artwork, which embodies the essence of friendship, now adorns the Turnovasite and connects art with the community.

By a twist of fate, on New Year's Eve, I found myself in the sculpture studio De Volle Zon in January 2020. Miek Sijsmans handed me a block of clay, and we were both surprised by the little boy who emerged from it.
“Is this your first time working with clay? You have talent!”
From that moment on, a new passion was born. The figures are already present in the clay—I merely give them space. In each sculpture, I find a part of myself. They are, one by one, my little treasures.

Guido Moorthamers

I am Guido Moorthamers, and I have been living in Kasterlee for a few years now. My roots lie in the Waasland region (Stekene).
At a later age, I began an academic, classical training in sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Sint-Niklaas. There, I learned the fundamental principles and technical skills of sculpting, which became the foundation for my future work.
Afterward, I pursued additional training in artistic craftsmanship, focusing on stonework and goldsmithing.
My work has evolved from classical figurative styles to abstract forms and various mixed media, allowing me to combine technical skills with a search for new forms of expression. I use a wide range of materials, including clay, plaster, polyester, epoxy, concrete, and different types of stone such as marble, alabaster, and blue limestone.

Frank Vanhooren

Frank considers himself a soulcatcher. He captures the essence of the faces of people in his close surroundings. He places these expressions on amorphous human forms, each of which is a unique creation. Although the figures may appear masculine, gender is irrelevant. Frank is one of the few artists to apply origami techniques to clay. His sculptures emerge from a flat sheet of clay that he folds in a single, fluid movement. Only the ears are added afterward. Each figure is exactly the size of his hands. Frank draws the viewer into an inner world, pulling them beyond the purely formal and inviting them to explore deeper layers.

Twenty years ago, when I had the time and space to give tangible form to my creativity, I met Roger from Atelier Roger in Kasterlee. I developed a passion for transforming my creativity into stone sculptures in my free time, supported by Roger’s expertise. My designs and subjects emerge primarily from my emotions and interactions with the people around me. The shape and color of the stone also play an important role in this process. My sculptures are both figurative and abstract, usually with very simple forms. I particularly enjoy working with alabaster because its translucency gives the artwork an extra dimension. For garden sculptures, I also work with Belgian blue stone and French stone. Working with stone, and more recently with wood, has such a calming and relaxing effect because it allows me to focus entirely on the growth of my creation. In short, it is a wonderful passion for me, one that I hope to continue for a long time.
